I have this problem when using JavaScript links, but the main goal is to provide practicality for the user before the engines. Making a sitemap can also help.

Jen,

I've always discovered that navigation can be one of the most difficult pieces with regard to both site design and positioning for SEO. I am glad you spoke on the issues associated with drop-down lists, javascript links and some of the other barriers to SEO success. This is inline with the kind of material I belive helps in dispelling myths in the industry.

I would love to get your views on my blog as well which speaks on Ethical SEO, website design and development best practices as well as other pertainent issues. <a href="http://websitedesigncompany.blogspot.com" rel="nofollow">Website Design and SEO Blog</a>.

Thanks!

Jen, very nice article.

There was one thing that I have never thought of that you mentioned: the placement of the navigation within the HTML code. It makes perfect sense in what you are saying. I guess that's why you are the expert.

Dear Jen,

Congrats for the new blog and I loved this navigation article. Its very informative and I am definitely going to use this for my work. I have few points that you can consider while writing on the similar subject.

1. Navigation with respect to the editors, Front Page and Dreamweaver

2. Navigation scripts created by other readymade tools.

3. Download time due to heavy navigation scripts.

4. Navigation and sitemaps

5. Text navigation Vs Image navigation

6. 2 clicks or 3 clicks deep navigation

7. Floating navigation bars

I feel these are points where my type of visitors will be interested and I would love to know Jen's expert opinion on these issues.

Thanks again for the article.

with regards
